Pastor's Pondering - june 2007
The Human race has the privilege of choosing right from wrong; however, they do not possess the capability to choose appropriately. Created in the image of God, man did not begin with this shortcoming. God had reserved the right to make the decisions for man where his well-being was concerned. God is omniscient and omnipresent; therefore, only he has the capability to always make the proper choice about what is good or bad for his creation. Being the first man, there in the beginning Adam was representative of man kind. So, when presented with an opportunity to gain more control over his existence; he plunged the whole of mankind into disobedience and death by taking it upon himself to choose right from wrong. Hopelessness was the state of man because of the selfish act of Adam. But see, how the love of God was proved, as he took the form of man; in the person of Jesus Christ and then going to the cross of Calvary; made it possible for men to be reconciled to their original relationship with him, making God lord and master and each man following the direction of his God. The only way for man to make the appropriate choice is for him to accept the work that Jesus Christ did on the cross of Calvary and turn the authority for making decisions of right and wrong back over to God.
